The McLean County Bar Association (MCBA) is announcing a $2,500 scholarship for eligible second or third year law school students with strong ties to McLean County, Illinois.
Applicants for the MCBA Community Service law school scholarship should demonstrate a commitment to McLean County, Bloomington-Normal and/or its surrounding communities through residency in the county, through academic ties to local schools or through past or future employment. Prime candidates will express and demonstrate a commitment to legal aid work, pro bono activities and/or community service.

Committee Projected Time Line for 2020:
- November 13 - Deadline for committee members to vote for their top 3 candidates.
- Adrian will send committee members a link to an online survey tool.
- Committee members vote on their top 3 choices.
- Your 1st choice will be assigned 3 points, 2nd choice will be assigned 2 points and your 3rd choice will receive 1 point.
- The 3 applicants with the most cumulative points will become the finalists for the committee discussion on 11-19.
- November 14 - Adrian will email the committee with the names of the 3 finalists.
- November 19 – Thursday 12.00-noon meeting via ZOOM with the entire committee to decide on recipient. [Adrian will send this invite.]
- November 23 - By this date (or before) - A committee member will inform the recipient that they have been awarded the scholarship. All other applicants are advised of the status of their application.
- December 2020 - We will announce the winner publicly and present them with the $2,500 scholarship
- We will come up with a more specific plan once we know the plan for the MCBA Holiday Meeting
- Mary and Adrian will create an announcement about the winner to be placed in the MCBA eNewsletter
- Mary and Adrian will forward the MCBA announcement to the winner so that they may publicize themselves
- Adrian will prepare a press release. Adrian will send the press release to the Pantagraph and WGLT, and ask them if they would like to cover the award with a news story.
