COURT NOTES
trials at one time. The biggest constraint from a jury trial standpoint has been the jury deliberation rooms could not accommodate jurors with social distancing in place. This forced us to use courtrooms as jury deliberation rooms further constraining our ability to hold more in-person hearings in some courtrooms during jury trial weeks. We look forward to returning using the jury deliberation rooms soon to prevent frequent disruptions to other courtrooms. As to social distancing, we are in continued consultation with the McLean County Health Department to monitor local conditions as contemplated by the Supreme Court Order. For at least the month of July, we will continue to practice reasonable social distancing practices. We will then revisit local conditions and look to make changes then. Facial coverings may be worn by anyone regardless of vaccination status for the foreseeable future. All dockets will be increasing in-person hearings at this time and we are cautiously optimistic that the pandemic restrictions will subside sooner rather than later. I hope you and your families have a safe and happy 4th of July and we look forward to seeing more people in person at the Law and Justice Center in the coming months. As always, on behalf of the entire Judiciary, we thank you for your continued patience and understanding. Should you have any questions or concerns on court operations, please contact Trial Court Administrator William Scanlon at (309) 888-5266. Best regards. Chief Judge Mark A.
