Navigating Juvenile Abuse/Neglect Court

[1 Hour General CLE Credit Approved]
Please join the McLean County Bar Association in welcoming Judge J. Brian Goldrick. He will lead the Bar through a discussion on the types of hearings that occur in the life of a Juvenile Abuse/Neglect case. Judge Goldrick was appointed as an associate judge in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in 2013. Prior to his appointment as an Associate Judge, he was in the McLean County Public Defender's Office from 1992 to 1996 and in private practice from 1996 to 2013. He handled cases in juvenile court while working in the public defender's office and in private practice. While in private practice from 2000 to 2013, he was the contract guardian-ad-litem in McLean County for all abuse/neglect cases.  Since his appointment to the bench, Judge Goldrick’s assignments have included DUI court, mental health, small claims, orders of protection and juvenile delinquency. He is currently the presiding judge of the Juvenile Abuse/Neglect division in McLean County, and hears guardianship cases and adoptions. He has most recently taught at the Judicial Educational Conference on Juvenile Court. He has taught a social work class (The Law in Social Work) at Illinois State University and has been invited to speak on numerous occasions on the topic of juvenile abuse/neglect issues.

Eviction Moratorium extended to April 3, 2021
Rental Assistance

The Illinois eviction moratorium is extended to April 3, 2021. People who are behind in their rent, mortgage, or utility payments should apply for assistance now. The best way to start this process is to call 211 to find out the best place to apply based on their unique circumstances.

Currently, the most likely source of assistance is through the Town of Normal (if the person lives in Normal) or the City of Bloomington (if the person lives in Bloomington). Please see the flyer listed below under Eviction Resources. Please distribute it widely. If you have case management services, please provide tenants with assistance gathering documents so that they can submit a complete application. We have seen a majority of applications be rejected due to incomplete documentation.

People seeking assistance should not call me. They should call 211 or follow the instructions on the attached flyer. If you or your staff have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
