Overview:
Courtnie grew up in East Peoria, IL, graduated from Lincoln Park High School in Chicago, and spent several years in between, living a mile outside of a town with a population of about 150. She attended college at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree, double-majoring in Political Science and Psychology. She then attended the Florida A&M University College of Law, graduating cum laude in 2013. Courtnie was the Editor-in-Chief of Law Review and held various leadership positions within the Women's Law Caucus, Student Bar Association, and Law Students for Reproductive Justice. She has been practicing law for almost 11 years in Illinois while living in cities like Seattle, Kansas City, and New York. But Illinois always calls her home.
Her primary focuses are family law; contract drafting and negotiation for small businesses; and civil litigation. With a professional background in many fields, her unique perspective and upbringing - combined with out-of-the-box thinking and problem-solving - allow for unique solutions crafted specifically for each client's needs. With deep, personal experience in evolving families and solid co-parenting relationships, she helps clients navigate difficult times with compassion while ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved.
Courtnie has been a Reddit moderator for nearly 15 years, which has allowed her to write for the New York Times and appear as a guest on CNBC. She was raised as the oldest sibling, first with her brother, David, then with her stepbrother, Dakota, and now rounding it out with her half-brother, Brian, who plays for the PGA Junior League at age 11. Courtnie spends her time away from the computer at Illini football and basketball games, riding around in her Jeep or motorcycle whenever the weather allows, and spending quality time with her partner and his children at their home in Clinton.
