April 21, 2015  Law & Literature program and  CLE LUNCHEON  (up to 4 Hrs professionalism cle credit pending)

Please join the McLean County Bar Association  for the April Law & Literature luncheon program and afternoon seminar. The program will be held on April 21st  from 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 313 North East Street, Bloomington, Illinois. 

 *PLEASE NOTE:  Materials and meals are not guaranteed for late or “Walk-In” registrants.  Late and “Walk-In” registrants must wait until timely registered attendees have been served.  Also, materials will be emailed after the CLE to those who register after cut off or attend on a walk-in basis.


Full Seminar Cost (includes luncheon) 
$50 MCBA/PCBA Members  (Cost increases to $75 for MCBA/PCBA Members  if registration are received after April 13, 2015)
$75 Non-members 
(Cost increases to$100 for Non-members if registration are received after April 13, 2015)

Lunch Only Cost
$15 MCBA/PCBA Members  (Cost increases to $20 for MCBA/PCBA Members  if registration are received after April 13, 2015)
$20 Non-Members (Cost increases to $25 for Non-members if registration are received after April 13, 2015) 


Printed Materials

$15 per packet (Please note, the required reading, Scott Turow's Limitations, is not covered under the cost of printed materials.  The short novel must be purchased separately by participants of the afternoon seminar.

The luncheon program entitled “Poetry of the Law” will be a discussion of poems about the practice of law lead by presenters Hon. Charles G. Reynard and Attorney Lora Keller. The poems will first be read aloud by selected participants and then discussed by all.  One hour of professionalism credit is pending for the luncheon program. Following the poetry program will be a three-hour program entitled “Prose of the Law.”   The principal text, for which advance reading is required, is Scott Turow’s short novel entitled Limitations.  Mr. Turow’s novel must be purchased by the participants and is not included in the cost of printed materials.  The last hour of the program will be devoted to a participant writing exercise.  Three hours of professionalism credit is pending.  The presenters encourage you sign up for these programs in advance.  They are also encouraging you to identify your favorite poems of the law and to list your favorite legal fiction and non-fiction so that a broad spectrum of law-related literary interests can be shared.

    Cost/day is $100 (bar members) or $125 (non members). Cost is $175 if attending both days. Costs increases by $5 for members and non-members if reservation is received after October 13, 2014.
    Materials will be sent via email unless you elect to purchase the printed materials. If elected, these will be available for pick up at the seminar.
