Overview:
Jason A. Barickman joined Meyer Capel as a Principal in June of 2012. Jason's practice focuses on real estate, including acquisitions, sales, and developments of office buildings, multi-family residential properties, industrial sites, and other residential and commercial properties. He has regularly represented clients in a variety of leasing transactions, build-to-suit arrangements and sale-leasebacks. Additionally, Mr. Barickman has assisted numerous clients through the complexities of the regulatory process, including the resolution of zoning and eminent domain issues. His representation includes property owners, businesses, developers, operators, contractors, and architects throughout North America in connection with residential, commercial, industrial, and other real estate projects.
In 2015, Jason was selected by Super Lawyers for inclusion on the Illinois Rising Stars list. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.
Mr. Barickman graduated from Illinois State university, where he was the Student Body President, with a Bachelor's of Science in Political Science in 1998. He graduate from the University of Illinois' College of Law with a Juris Doctorate degree in 2005.
Mr Barickman served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1992 through 1998 as an infantry soldier. Jason was formerly employed with Ernst and Young, LLP, in St. Louis as a management consultant in the technology and telecommunication industries from 1998 to 1999. Additionally, he was employed by Dynegy, Inc. in Chicago, Illinois and Denver, Colorado from 1999 through 2002. He was a founder of the law firm of Bartell, Barickman & Powell, where he was employed until his departure for Meyer Capel.
Mr. Barickman was elected to the Illinois State Senate on November 6, 2012, and represents the 53rd Legislative District. Previously, he served in the Illinois House of Representatives since 2011.
Jason and his wife, Kristin, live in Bloomington and have two sons.
