MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTAlthough the weather was a bit wet and rumbly at times, I hope everyone had a nice weekend! This is a fairly quiet week for the Bar, but looking ahead into October, there are several CLE opportunities. The Family Law Committee will be presenting a FREE CLE on Individual and Family Tax Law Updates on Thursday, October 10 at 4:00 pm in Judge McFarland's Courtroom. On Monday, October 14, beginning at noon, there is an opportunity to obtain up to 2 hours of general CLE credit with a presentation on Expungements. This CLE will convene in the Jury Assembly Room on floor 5 of the Law and Justice Center. Lunch is included! Finally, our monthly CLE luncheon will be provide a program centered around Real Estate in Divorce. Please see the links below for more information on these upcoming CLEs. Bob White, who is a Mock Trial coach for Normal West, has reached out to indicate that two very talented seniors have an opportunity to attend a Mock Trial seminar this month at Harvard University. The families are hoping to defray some of the costs for airfare and registration for the program (chaperones are paying their own way). If you have an interest in helping these young students, please see the information below. Michelle Mancias and Fred Moore are members the MCBA and the Orpheus Mandolin Orchestra. Their group is hosting the national convention of the Classical Mandolin Society of America this month at the Marriott in Uptown Normal. The concerts will be held on October 10, 11 and 12. Come out and enjoy! Lastly, there is one month left for application for the annual MCBA scholarship. This is a great opportunity for a second and/or third year Law student. Please share this information with qualifying students. The deadline is October 31. Please see the application LINK. Have a great week ! Joe Foley

In that time, we have had some very dedicated teacher sponsors and a local attorney coach (Mr. Robert White) that have helped to raise the bar for what our students accomplish with added program opportunities. In more recent years, we have had the good fortune of the partnership with the McLean County Bar Association in hosting an annual competition in March at the McLean County Law and Justice Center that continues to attract more and more teams from across Illinois. There are significant hurdles for us to compete at the level that many other teams...
