Thank you!MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTHappy Monday, all ! This week, we have our CLE luncheon entitled Pro Bono Boot Camp tomorrow, September 17th. We still have a few seats available if you would like to register for tomorrows event. [Please see the registration LINK below.] If you cannot make it, no worries. We have another opportunity on Friday, September 20. The Central Illinois Paralegal Association is presenting their Legal Education seminar to obtain 5 hours of CLE. Registration is below. This Saturday, September 21st, you have the opportunity to serve Team MCBA to help raise awareness and money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. See the important information below. Thank you to all who completed the survey regarding a proposed evening Holiday celebration. Additional details will be available soon. We have confirmed our MCBA Holiday luncheon at the Bloomington Country Club on Tuesday, December 17. The McLean County Nursing Home residents and staff were so grateful and overwhelmed by the MCBA generosity last year, we are adopting them again this year! As we draw closer, we will supply a link to register. Lastly, you all know that the application process for the annual MCBA scholarship opportunity is ongoing. Law students who are in their second or third year (or equivalent) have this opportunity. Please share this information with qualifying students. Once again, the deadline is October 31st. Please see the application LINK. Have a great week ! Joe Foley When my daughter was seven weeks old she had a fever and I took her to the local the ER. They tested her blood count and discovered that it had dropped. Upon follow up with the pediatrician later that day, we were sent to St. Jude in Peoria. While in the clinic, my daughter became unresponsive. She would no longer open her eyes. A pediatric emergency response team flooded our exam room and hooked her up to an IV. Dr. Ross immediately admitted my daughter. I held her as they wheeled me in a chair to her room. During this transport, she finally re-opened her blue eyes again, and I could see her looking up at me. Over the next 48 hours, the doctors at St. Jude administered two treatments of a blood transfusion and tested my infant daughter trying to figure out the cause of her symptoms. They administered a spinal tap, a cranial ultrasound, and a myriad of blood tests. At last, they discovered that she had contracted viral meningitis. The blood transfusion took and her blood count came back to an acceptable number. My husband and I stayed at the hospital for three days while friends and family took care of our other child and pets. Today, my daughter is 15 months old and has not had a significant health scare since. St. Jude saved my daughters life!
