Members, please join us at our annual meeting.

The meeting will take place on the Epiphany Farm near Downs, Illinois. The meeting will commence at 4:30 pm on Thursday, June 16. 

This years agenda will include important business a summary of committee reports, a vote on open Board positions and the transition for the 2022-2023 term. This years agenda will also include the 2022 Young Lawyer of the Year Awards. The memorials will be honored for those who are listed below.

Pursuant to §9.2(a) of Article IX of the By-Laws of the McLean County Bar Association, the following have been slated as nominees for the below-named offices of the McLean County Bar Association for the 2022-2023 term:
 
     President:  Kathleen M. Kraft
     First Vice-President:  Nathan B. Hinch
     Second Vice President:  Honorable Pablo Eves
     Secretary:  Nargis Khokhar
     Member, Board of Governors:  Dean Davis - Term Expiring 2026
 
The above-named nominees will be formally placed in nomination at the annual meeting of the Association on June 16, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. at Epiphany Farms Estate at Moraine View, 23676 East 800 North Road, Downs, Illinois 61736.
 
All members should plan to attend and cast their ballots as aforesaid. 
 
All members are further notified that pursuant to §9.2(b) of Article IX of the McLean County Bar Association By-Laws, not less than ten members may nominate other candidates for any office or offices described above.  Such nominations shall be in writing, signed by the nominators, and shall be filed with the Secretary of the Association not less than fifteen days preceding the date of the annual meeting as aforesaid.

While at ISU double majoring in political sciences and legal studies, Natalie interned at Finegan, Rinker & Ghrist and then joined the team as a paralegal after graduation. She recently completed her first year of law school at McKinney School of Law at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. Natalie is thrilled to be back in McLean county interning with Judge Kording this summer and look forward to meeting everyone.

Cameron is a recent undergraduate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a major in Political Science and minor in History. Cameron plans to begin law school in Fall of 2023. We are pleased to welcome CHELP as the Adult Protective Services (APS) provider for McLean and Livingston counties, effective immediately. CHELP has served as the designated APS provider for DeWitt and Macon Counties since April 1, 1991.

Reports of suspected Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation of older adults and adults with disabilities should be directed to CHELP at 1-217-422-9888 or 1-888-243-5701
 
CHELP will absorb all open APS cases. If you were coordinating with a case worker from PATH regarding an APS client, please direct all future communication to CHELP. Learn the purposes and differences of the four most common personal protective orders, including Orders of Protection (OPs), Stalking No Contact Orders (SNCOs), Civil No Contact Orders (CNCOs), and Criminal Protective Orders (CPOs); who can be protected by the orders; the procedures for the filing and hearing of Petitions for these orders, including how emergency orders (EOPs, ESNCOs, and ECNCOs) are handled; the protective-order remedies available to victims of abuse/stalking/assault; plus some advanced practice tips that should help both the “newbie” and the “old pro” attorneys alike.
