Members, please join us at our annual meeting.

This meeting will be a little different this year as we continue to work through the challenges of a global pandemic. The meeting will take place at Epiphany Farm. This venue provides a safe and inviting atmosphere to those who would like to attend in person. The meeting will commence at 4:30 pm on Thursday, June 17. 

This years agenda will include important business a summary of committee reports, a vote on open Board positions and the transition for the 2021-2022 term. This years agenda will also include the 2020 and 2021 Lincoln Award recipients as well as the 2020 and 2021 Young Lawyer of the Year Awards. The memorials for both 2020 and 2021 will be presented at a later date.

The cost is $30.00 for MCBA Members ($35 for non-MCBA Members) if paid on or before June 11. After June 11, the cost increases to $35.00 for MCBA Members ($40.00 for non-MCBA Members).
​
There will be light appetizers provided along with a cash bar.​

Pursuant to §9.2(a) of Article IX of the By-Laws of the McLean County Bar Association, the following have been slated as nominees for the below-named offices of the McLean County Bar Association for the 2021-2022 term:
 
     President:  Julia Davis
     First Vice-President:  Kathleen M. Kraft
     Second Vice President:  Nathan B. Hinch
     Secretary:  Nargis Khokhar
     Member, Board of Governors:  Michael G. Butts - Term Expiring 2025
     Member, Board of Governors:  Brendan Bukalski  - Term Expiring 2024
 
The above-named nominees will be formally placed in nomination at the annual meeting of the Association on June 17, 2021, at 4:30 p.m. at Epiphany Farms Estate at Moraine View, 23676 East 800 North Road, Downs, Illinois 61736.
 
All members should plan to attend and cast their ballots as aforesaid. 
 
All members are further notified that pursuant to §9.2(b) of Article IX of the McLean County Bar Association By-Laws, not less than ten members may nominate other candidates for any office or offices described above.  Such nominations shall be in writing, signed by the nominators, and shall be filed with the Secretary of the Association not less than fifteen days preceding the date of the annual meeting as aforesaid.

 Landlords:
Up to $25,000 Rent Assistance per tenant via NEW state program

Beginning on May 17, the application portal can be located by clicking on the above icon.
A valuable new rental assistance program from the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) is launching on May 17. This program will provide up to 12 months of past rent and 3 months of future rent payments for eligible applicants, up to a maximum grant of $25,000 per tenant.   
 
The application needs to be done in close cooperation between landlords and tenants. The application window is only three weeks, so you should plan to apply as soon as the portal opens. The portal will close on Monday, June 7th. 

There is a list of documents required of both the tenant and housing provider, as well as some very thorough Landlord FAQs and Tenant FAQs on IHDA’s website.
