THE PATH FORWARD

Please join the McLean County Bar Association in welcoming speakers to address Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the legal profession. This presentation has been organized by the MCBA Underwood Committee. John Kim, Commissioner, Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism, will open the presentation with a brief presentation regarding the basics of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion [DEI] in the legal profession. This will include a description of key terms. The presentation will then move on to a panel discussion that will focus on how practitioners can integrate DEI into their practices.  Mr. Kim will be followed by a panel discussion that will include Adrian Barr, Managing Attorney, PSLS, Judge Pablo Eves and Judge Carla Barnes.

eviction moratorium extended
to may 1
Rental Assistance

The Illinois eviction moratorium is extended to May 1, 2021 with the information at this LINK.

People who are behind in their rent, mortgage, or utility payments should apply for assistance now. The best way to start this process is to call 211 to find out the best place to apply based on their unique circumstances.

Currently, the most likely source of assistance is through the Town of Normal (if the person lives in Normal) or the City of Bloomington (if the person lives in Bloomington). Please see the flyer listed below under Eviction Resources. Please distribute it widely. If you have case management services, please provide tenants with assistance gathering documents so that they can submit a complete application. We have seen a majority of applications be rejected due to incomplete documentation.

People seeking assistance should not call me. They should call 211 or follow the instructions on the attached flyer. If you or your staff have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
