Please join the McLean County Bar Association for a presentation from the Lawyers' Assistance Program. The agenda will include information on LAP, attorneys as a vulnerable population, substance use, anxiety, depression, suicide and how to refer. This is a serious and necessary topic for this day and age. Please join us for an hour of information with the details listed below.
Recognizing, Understanding, and Referring a Colleague in Need (60 minutes)
Recent studies have confirmed that overwhelming stressors that are commonplace in our legal profession disproportionately results in attorneys suffering higher levels of depression, anxiety, substance use, burnout, cognitive problems, and other serious issues at rates much higher than those seen in the general population. Participants in this program will learn:
• Why attorneys are a vulnerable population;
• The common mental health and substance use issues faced by our colleagues;
• The signs and symptoms of those issues; and
• What to do when you identify a colleague in need.
