Topics will include: safekeeping of client’s property (trust accounts), duty to report professional misconduct of other attorneys (In re Himmel), dealing with unrepresented persons, confidentiality of information, meritorious claim or contentions, communication with person represented by counsel, firm names and letterhead, attorneys fees, client-lawyer sexual relationships, and ex parte communications with judges.

isba women and the law committee
community service project

Message from Laura Castagna, Kelly & Castagna, MCBA member and member of the ISBA's Women & the Law Standing Committee:

Happy Holidays fellow MCBA members! This holiday season, the ISBA Women & the Law Standing Committee has organized a donation drive for organizations across Illinois that support women and children in crisis. Locally, all donations collected will benefit Mid Central Community Action's Neville House, where assistance is critical this time of year. Residents staying at Neville House work closely with trained domestic violence advocates that assist at risk women and children in finding resources for housing, childcare employment, legal representation, transportation, and enhancement of life skills.

Please consider making a contribution to Mid Central Community Action, Inc./Neville House, which is a tax deductible 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit either through this link: https://secure.givelively.org//donate/mid-central-community-action/laura-castagna or by sending a check made payable to "MCCA/CDV" to Kelly & Castagna, 121 N. Main St., 3rd Fl., Bloomington, IL 61701. Any amount that you can spare would be greatly appreciated and can do so much good for people in our community!

Under the threat of domestic violence, women and children often flee their homes with little time to gather necessary items, having nothing more than the clothes on their backs; so besides monetary donations, we're also asking for donations of goods for Neville House. We're collecting personal care and household items including diapers, baby wipes, body wash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, trash bags, Ziploc bags (any size), paper towels, hangers, etc.  Any of these common items can provide untold value to these families in crisis. Donations can be dropped off at the law firm of Kelly & Castagna, 121 N. Main St., 3rd Fl., in Bloomington. I am also happy to arrange to come to your office to pick up items (Bloomington-Normal pick up only).

Our deadline to collect donations is Friday, December 9th. I sincerely appreciate your support & generosity in advance! Feel free to forward and share this opportunity with others in our community.

Thank you for considering this worthy cause!
