Life Saver Announcement
Hannah Eisner
Hannah Eisner began taking pro bono divorce cases from PSLS Bloomington Office in 1997, 25 years ago. She has helped 23 PSLS pro bono clients primarily with divorce cases. This is the highest area of need. She never turns down a request to take a case and is always professional, considerate, and caring to her clients.

Robert Porter
Robert joined Costigan & Wollrab in 2012 and began volunteering with Prairie State in 2013. Robert has helped 14 PSLS pro bono clients primarily with divorce cases but also with wills and advanced directives. His clients have described him as knowledgeable and friendly. . . and in the words of one of his happy clients: Robert’s attitude in helping was "over the top".
From Robert who was unable to attend: I am extremely grateful to Prairie State Legal Services for the vital work it performs in our community. Prairie State's talented team of attorneys and staff, past and present, has been a source of inspiration for me in volunteering my time with Prairie State. I am touched to receive this recognition.

Jennifer Redd
Jennifer Redd is a paralegal at State Farm. She has been working together with State Farm attorneys on PSLS pro bono divorces for over a decade. This is the highest area of need. Jennifer has worked with State Farm attorneys to provide pro bono divorce services to 21 low-income people. Jennifer also regularly volunteers at the Legal Advice Fair. Jennifer is one of the people within State Farm’s law department helping to champion and grow pro bono work there by connecting attorneys and paralegals with PSLS. She recruited one of last year’s Lifesaver award recipients, Kristin Givens. Kristin Givens told me Jennifer has one of the biggest hearts for others around. She is always looking for opportunities to use her paralegal education and skills to help others.  She is a passionate advocate and a caring human!

Crystal Thomas
Crystal Thomas is a paralegal at State Farm. She has been volunteering regularly at the Legal Advice Fair since its inception in 2015. Crystal has logged a lot of volunteer hours over the past year and a half staffing Prairie State’s courthouse eviction clinic. The clinic is staffed by PSLS staff and volunteers. Thanks to Crystal’s help and that of our other eviction clinic volunteers, tenants are given legal advice and assistance negotiating suitable outcomes. Crystal has been one of our most active volunteers attending the clinic almost every week. Her volunteer work is so important. Without it, Prairie State could not utilize attorney volunteers at these clinics because our funders require that Prairie State keep specific detailed notes of each legal consultation. Crystal and our other paralegal volunteers allow us to properly serve these clients and keep our funders happy. Crystal has helped over 100 eviction clinic tenants.

Scholarship Committee Announcement
Alexandra Williams
Each year, the MCBA gives a $2,500 Community Service Scholarship to a 2nd or 3rd year law student who demonstrates a commitment to legal aid work, pro bono activities, and community service.

Alexandra Williams is the 2022 recipient of the MCBA Community Service Scholarship. Alexandra grew up in Heyworth. She went to college at Illinois State University. She currently attends Southern Illinois Univesity School of Law. She would like to return to McLean County to work at the State's Attorney's office after she graduates from law school in 2023. Ms. Williams has interned at the McLean County State's Attorney's office for the past two summers and logged over 862 hours of community service with them. McLean County Assistant State's Attorney Jeff Horve describes Alexandra as one of the best interns he has worked with in his career.
