court notes
numbers take a turn for the worse, jury trials could be halted. Only two jury trials will be tried at one time in McLean County with staggered reporting times for jurors and with smaller number of jurors being called in at one time for jury selection. The other on-going difficulty is planning for resumption of eviction cases. As I write today, the Illinois Eviction Moratorium is set to expire tomorrow, but may be extended by the time you get this message. Regardless, the federal eviction moratorium remains in effect until the end of January 2021. To say the least, planning for the onslaught of eviction cases remains one of our biggest challenges. Judges Black, Foley, Lawrence and I will all be handling eviction cases to address the backlog. Adrian Barr has informed me that Prairie State Legal Services will be assisting tenants, and I am sure his office could use additional volunteer lawyers to assist. You may wish to reach out to Adrian with an offer to assist. Judge Drazewski retired effective December 31, 2020 and Judge Yoder has assumed his docket with Judge Workman taking over Judge Yoder’s docket. Judge Workman’s Criminal Docket is now being handled by a rotation of judges as we await Justice Garman and the Illinois Supreme Court’s appointment to Judge Drazewski’s vacant seat. Once a selection is made, additional docket assignment changes can be expected. Fortunately, all other aspects of court operations remain intact. I want to thank everyone again for the extreme amount of patience shown to the Judiciary, Court Staff and the Court Reporters since the beginning of the pandemic. It is greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions or concerns on court operations, please contact Trial Court Administrator William Scanlon at (309) 888-5266. Stay safe and healthy. Best regards. Chief Judge Mark A. Fellheimer
Electronic Justice Case Management System and the start of electronic filing (E-filing) of civil case types in Illinois; and COVID-19 – to name a few. Kelley and DeCardy were the first SC judges with whom she worked. SC judges Fellheimer and Black were the last. In September of 1991, Darlene married Jerry Pratt. She and Jerry have two adult children, Scott and Sara, and are the proud grandparents of 2, with another one expected this month. Darlene enjoyed her years in the circuit clerk’s office and is eagerly looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren. Don R. Everhart, Jr. Clerk of the Circuit Court Eleventh Judicial Circuit TUESDAY - JANUARY 19, 2021
