a message from
​the outgoing president

Congratulations to Nate Hinch on his election as president. I am confident he will do good things for the McLean County Bar Association and its members. 
 
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as your president. My goal was to increase socialization among members, as civility seemed to be at an all-time low (at least during my career). I think our varied activities - CLE, luncheons, happy hours, CPR, golf & pickleball have attracted members from all areas. I hope this level of involvement will continue to increase and improve civility, and our profession. 
 
This past year was one of the most challenging of my career. Mary Sellmyer and the entire Board of Governors were instrumental in the success of the MCBA.  Mary's ability to anticipate what is needed and address issues is extraordinary. She helps each president succeed and makes the association better. I greatly appreciate the dedication and service of Julia Davis, Nate Hinch, Pablo Eves, Calli Ferrel, Josephine Shane, John Pratt, Brendan Bukalski, Michael Butts, Dean Davis, the committee chairs, and everyone at Kraft, Wood & Kelly, LLC. 
 
I hope to see you all at the next MCBA event.

Pro Bono Attorney Needed for McLean County Case

The Prairie State Conflict Referral Program is seeking a pro bono attorney to assist a petitioner in an OP case. EOP was recently granted to protect the petitioner and the minor child of the parties. The petitioner will seek a continuance for the 7/12 POP Hearing if necessary. The petitioner is financially qualified to receive pro bono services, but Prairie State Legal Services has a conflict of interest.

​is the 2023 MCBA representative for the “20 Stars for Life” fundraiser!  

​JULY 20

The fundraiser benefits the Life Foundation’s “Stay 4” Project. https://www.stay4.org/ This program identifies low income students at risk for dropping out of school and links them with educational opportunities and scholarships. It also provides the students with a minimum $1,000 grant once the student enrolls in trade school, community college or a 4 year university. This includes most area high schools including my alma mater, Bloomington High School.  
 
The fundraising event with dinner, drinks and entertainment is on July 20 at the Park Regency Hotel in Bloomington. With the purchase of each ticket, you will be helping at risk kids finish high school and continue their education. Each ticket is $50.
