US DISTRICT COURT JUDGE JAMES SHADID

This years program will include the United States District Court Judge James Shadid, Lincoln Award Recipient 2024, Community Service Awards and much more!

Judge James Shadid has been a United States District Judge since March of 2011. He was Chief Judge of the District from March of 2012 to March of 2019. Prior to sitting on the Federal bench, Judge Shadid was a Circuit Judge for the 10th Judicial Circuit of Illinois from December of 2001 until March of 2011. A native of Peoria, Judge Shadid attended Bradley University (1975-1979) and John Marshall Law School (1980-1983). After graduating from law school, he returned to Peoria where he was engaged in the private practice of law from 1983 until 2001. While in private practice he served also as an Asst. Public Defender, originally in juvenile court, but serving 14 years in felony court. He has served as adjunct professor at several nearby colleges and universities during his professional career, including Bradley University, John Marshall Law School, UIC Law and University of Illinois College of Law (Urbana).  

​The 2024 Law Day celebration will be held Wednesday, May 1 at the Holiday Inn & Suites by the Airport, Bloomington. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 12:00 noon. There will be a program beginning at noon. Guests are welcome. The cost is $45 per person through Tuesday, April 15, then price increases to $55 per person beginning Wednesday, April 16. Registration will close on Tuesday, April 23.

​Senior attorneys (those practicing law 50+ years) and new admittees (May 2022 to the present) may attend free of charge. Senior and newly admitted attorneys must register and will be sent an email invitation soon.*


The address for the Holiday Inn & Suites by the Airport is 3202 E. Empire St., Bloomington. Parking is available not only in the Holiday Inn parking lot, but also in the Baxters parking lot.
