The Ins and Outs of Winning a
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Case
Tuesday - february 16, 2021
[1 hour general cle credit approved]
Please join the McLean County Bar Association in welcoming Ms. Charlotte Alvarez. She will lead the Bar through a presentation on the DACA program which was created by President Obama in 2012. It was suspended for the majority of the past four years. Thanks to a combination of Supreme Court litigation and executive policy changes, the program is once again open to new applicants, providing an exciting new path to work authorization and status for thousands of youth in our communities. In this CLE, you will learn the ins and outs of obtaining DACA status for clients, either in private practice or as a pro bono volunteer with The Immigration Project.
Objectives:
Participants will learn more about this new form of immigration relief available to thousands of Illinois residents, including the basics on who is eligible and how to apply. At the end they will have a starting point on knowing how to incorporate DACA cases into their private practice or have the tools to support DACA youth through volunteering for The Immigration Project’s pro bono opportunities.
